I've tried to quit dying my hair but the grow out was too difficult. I've bought several bottle of this through out the years but didn't like the runny texture. It pours on like water and was difficult to control. I finally decided to put up with the runny texture and follow the directions. So now I shampoo, condition, and pour some Roux on my head. I'll never dye my hair again. Yes, it gets on your hands somewhat but it washes off. Yes, my hair feel slightly coated but it looks great. After working out and sweating, I did get a smudge on my cheek from the dye, but all in all, this is so much better than looking like a skunk with a white stripe where my hair parts. The color is natural and blends the grays so that the grow out isn't so obvious. When the permanent color is finally out of my hair, I'll probably quit using it. After I'm done with this bottle I'll try the same thing in the mousse formula.
Some people with black hair decide to go to a brown, but I found that this didn't make me feel like myself and it wasn't going to solve the maintenance issue that I was trying to solve.
I heard rumors from hair dressers and friends that it gets all over your shirt collars, pillowcases, hands and towels. During applications it gets on towels of course like any other dye, but I haven't had a problem with pillowcases and shirts. But I must say that I would hesitate to wear a white shirt on the first day of application.
This product isn't for the woman who wants to hide all the gray. Gray can look classy and authentic on some people (women included!). Roux slightly changed the texture, but I left a bit more conditioner in my hair than usual. My hair looks healthier than it did when I dyed it. I'm glad to have my color grow out problem solved.
