(More customer reviews)i recently splurged on the Sojourn Volume shampoo and conditioner (and monoi oil)for myself - merry xmas to me! :) i had never heard of the brand (is co-founder Elan Sassoon spawn of the iconic Vidal Sassoon??) but a little research reavealed some interesting info (that i will share here, since Amazon doesn't have much in their description). So...Sojourn's tag line is "a positive chemistry for hair." the pH of the line is 4.5, which apparently is the exact pH of hair, and this means Sojourn's products will not open up hairs' cuticles, thus minimizing damage and color fading/loss. there are 4 different types to choose from: Volume, Moisture, Color Preserve and Smoothe. the line also boasts UV protection, no sulfates, no formaldehydes, no denatured alcohol, no parabens, no salt, no artificial color/dye. it is not tested on animals. and it smells really good to boot.
for a little background, my color-treated hair is very straight and fine, about to shoulder blades/mid-back. generally, it is healthy and easy to deal with but in winter, i get horrible tangles and really annoying static (so badly that i dread brushing it). the directions say to wait 2-3 mins before rinsing both shampoo and conditioner, but the first time i rinsed both out without waiting and still had great results. towel dried, gently combed through a few drops of the monoi oil (so light, absorbs super-quick and smells exactly like Nag Champa incense mmmmmm!) and let air dry (i very rarely use hot tools). WOWWWWeeee! my hair looks and feels soft and shiny and i haven't had a single knot (despite awful midwest winter wind) and not even a hint of static.
so, the verdict is...this stuff is GREAT. i'd give it 5 stars but the price is about 4 times what i usually pay (i like Garnier) so i'm not sure if i'll be able to rebuy.
