(More customer reviews)I've had bad dandruff for years. I mean, bad to the point where it's in my car, all over my home, my workdesk, my laptop. It's kind of disgusting, and looks pretty bad when I wore dark clothes. I could literally stand still, and shed. Yuck... Let's not even talk about the itch. All day, to the point where I had sore spots on my head.
I've tried pretty much everything. Dermarest, Nizoral, Selenium, and Zinc preparations - everything from over-the-counter varieties to items given to me by dermatologists, who were always "amazed that it didn't work."
Well, one day, I noticed a local grocery was closing out some generic low-percentage coal tar shampoos. Some of the 0.5% stuff, which I remember as being one of the older remedies that the folks had talked about. I decided to give it a try, since the bottles were going for a buck. Nothing really to lose. Well, within two weeks, I noticed a marked difference in the amount of dandruff I was shedding, and most of the itch and redness on my scalp had gone.
I investigated, found that it was near impossible to get the stronger stuff anymore due to some goofball's lawsuit, but that it was indeed still available, right here. The lawsuit was related to the stuff being considered a carcinogen in California. Yeah, kids, it's made from tar. Don't drink it.
After about a month and a half of using this stuff (about 7/8th of one bottle) I'm happy to say my dandruff is, as far as I am concerned, 100% gone. No more shedding, no more blowing crap out of my laptop, and no more cleaning the car every other day. I'm simply amazed. My scalp doesn't itch. I can wear dark shirts now. This stuff even cleared up some redness on my neck that I've had with the dandruff (and the doctors think was related.) I'm going to try and start cutting back on use, down to maybe every 3-5 days and see what happens. I don't think I can stop using it, but I can cut back.
So, in short, this stuff is amazing, is worth every penny, and will last you for probably 5-6 months if you use it sparingly. If you have severe dandruff, I highly recommend you read about how this stuff works, the minor side effects it can have, and get some. It works!
If you have very dry hair, get a good conditioner to pair with it.
Pros:

Don't need much per application.
Worked for me within a few weeks.
Cons:
Can smell like creosote.
Makes gray hair darker.
May increase your sensitivity to sunlight.
