(More customer reviews)I first came across Pert Plus in the early 90s after Consumer Reports had rated it as the #1 Shampoo/Conditioner. I've been very satisfied with this product and don't even think about changing or trying something else. However, each purchase now seems to take a bit thought more thought than it used to. There seems to be a plethora of Pert Plus offerings. Do I want it for fine, very fine, medium or coarse hair? Is my hair oily or dry or normal? If I can decide any of this, then do I want the small, medium, large or travel size? Well, if I can ever make the decision, that particular version probably isn't there and I'll just have to take whatever I can grab. At present, I seem to have one designated "Simply Fresh" and it comes in a bottle that proclaims "Bonus!: 25% more!" More than what? The large? In any case, it amounts to 31.8 ounces, so you can decide for yourself.
Well, I just don't care what the size and type amounts to; I just grab a mid-range one and it's always seemed to work just fine. However, this time a new wrinkle has been introduced. Now my bottle has "Simply Fresh" on it and the product contains menthol. Menthol? When I first used it, my whole body felt like I had ingested a huge a cough drop. It was amazing! I didn't even realize I'd picked up this newest version. Do I like it? Not really. It gives a slight burning sensation around the eyes and other sensitive body parts. Refreshing? Is a cough drop refreshing? Personally, I'd rather just have the basic shampoo/conditioner.
In any case, this makes the product hard to rate. Well, it's a first-rate product and I'd give the shampoo/conditioner 5 stars. without question. However, I don't particularly like the "Simply Fresh" aspect of it and would give this mentholated characteristic only a 3-star rating. Hmmmm. Does 4 stars sound fair? Give it a try and decide for yourself.
