I have tried all of the OTC dandruff shampoos that use coal tar, sulfur, salicylic acid,selenium sulfide, zinc pyrithrione (heck I even tried a dog shampoo once because I thought it would be stronger) baking soda, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice..you name it, I tried it! This shampoo is the only thing that keeps it in check. I have no idea WHY because all the other Coal Tar Shampoos didn't work but it does, and for that, I am grateful! I actually buy this directly at a Sally's store but if a store isn't near you, this is a good way to purchase the product. The shampoo is on the runny side so be careful when you squirt it out, decent lather, makes your scalp feel tingly clean, does have a medicine-y smell. I leave it on for several minutes and rinse with no conditioner needed.
