I heard rave reviews about this conditioner on line, on many forums, and wanted to try the "Yes for Carrots" brand. But, I found out that "Yes for Cucumbers" was supposedly more moisturizing for the 4a/4b hair I have.
When I first opened the seal on the bottle, I wasn't too happy: I smelled cucumbers. Yuck! For me, the scent of cucumbers a little nauseating, because I hate eating cucumbers.(Sorry cucumber lovers)! But, I tried not letting first impressions dissuade me.
This paraben-free conditioner is light green, with a medium-thick consistency. It's not as thick as Organix or Hello Hydration, but not as thin as V05's smoothies, or Suave Tropical Coconut Conditioner. Yes to Cucumbers' smell changed, after I began smoothing this product through my hair in the shower. The scent transformed into a sweet floral aroma as I began rinsing this underwater. This conditioner also gave a slight lather (very surprising). I had to double check the bottle to make sure I hadn't bought shampoo. (But, yes, it was the conditioner).
The conditioner left my hair shiny, moist and soft (even without the leave-ins and sealers). And one look at the ingredients, made this feel like a spa-quality conditioner as a reasonable price.
One caveat: although it does not contain petroleum, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or parabens, it does contain Sodium Hydroxide (or lye) albeit in a small amount.
Although it does contain a minute amount of lye, I'm still very happy with the results. I will purchase this product again for my hair arsenal.
