(More customer reviews)I LOVE the smell of this shampoo. It can be a bit quirky for some folks ... but to me, the earthy rich aroma smells like an autumn campfire, and it brings with it such a sense of joyful relaxation that I enjoy using it on a day to day basis.
Pine tar is a traditional remedy for eczema and other skin and scalp problems. The Heritage adds the wholesome and effective goodness of pine tar to their already-great hypo allergenic olive oil shampoo formula.
I was introduced to Pine Tar shampoo at the source if you will...when I first came to Virginia Beach I found the Heritage Store and fell in love with all of their great products and their way of doing business. They are a very Green company, which I respect tremendously.
I tried it because my boyfriend at the time needed something to help him with some eczema / dandruff -- and it did help him out a lot. His eczema was not very bad, but his dandruff was, and while he used Pine Tar Shampoo he didn't have any at all! It took about a week to clear it up completely. As far as I know, he still uses it.
As for me, the moment I smelled it I was over the top about it. I have been hooked ever since because even though it is formulated for soothing skin issues, it doesn't dry out my hair. In fact, Pine Tar shampoo makes my hair feel great!
Now, it is thinner than traditonal shampoo so be prepared for that the first time you use it, but also be prepared for the absolute delight of the earthy rich aroma that it has .... ahhhh ..... the reason it is thinner by the way is because the Heritage does not put any extra and unecessary fillers into their all natural shampoos. So it does pour out a bit quick but that is easily gotten used to.
It doesn't lather up quite as much as your run-of-the-mill shampoos, but it does the job more than adequately. I found that once I started using it I didn't even think about the difference anymore. It rinses out easily and cleanly, leaving my hair squeaky clean. The lid is a flip style top and makes it easy to use, I have a tendency to drop lids in the shower if I have to unscrew them, so I like it quite a lot.
All in all, this is one of my favorite shampoos I have ever used.
