(More customer reviews)Have you ever gotten that dreaded call from school or camp? If you have ever battled lice (the big L), you know EXACTLY what I mean. When it happens, what do you do? Go to the drugstore and check the lice kits, right? Shampoo, inspect head, pick nits (you can't really nail the bugs themselves since they're too fast); wash everything in hot water, dry it all on hot in the dryer, bag some stuff, vaccum; what about kids' backpacks, their coats, scarfs, gloves, hats, ball caps, batting helmets? Sheets, pillowcases, (pillows?), blankets, comforters? Whew! Then,... wait a minute, is that you scratching your head? Aaargh!!!
Ok, after one of the calls we got, we marched straight over to Licenders for their in-salon treatment.* It worked very well, especially if you have long hair. They cleared our family of L, which included two mild cases, one massive case, and one small case (with the long hair). We did the daily nit checks and shampooing for two weeks (every 3-5 days with L shampoo). Eventually one of our kids caught it again from camp but we skipped the salon. We were able to control it and knock out the live L by using Licenders shampoo.
The shampoo is supposed to be all natural, and kill L on contact. It does not do anything about nits. And, I don't think L build any kind of immunity to it. So, the routine is to use the shampoo every 3-5 days for at least a couple of weeks, then every 7 days until you are confident all's well.
Some people we know use the shampoo once weekly to kill whatever may have landed during the interim.
* The Licenders in-salon treatment cost $250 for the first 2hrs and $90 for each additional hour.
