(More customer reviews)One of my friends suggested I start using castile soap for a number of benefits, including ecological and health-wise. I made the switch about 2 years ago and haven't looked back. All castile soap will basically work the same, so don't get caught up on one brand or the other. Just get the cheapest with the best fragrance. For me, the Black Soap fragrance is fantastic. It's slightly musky and very floral and woody, smelling a bit like being in a dense forest in the fall as the leaves are falling. No harsh perfumes means that it won't barrage your senses all day and just leaves a very faint and pleasant scent on your whole body. No dyes or chemicals means that it's safe for everyone and everything, including babies, animals, and all wildlife. Perfect for camping or any ecologically-conscious home life. Being in a liquid form, it foams just as well as commercial soaps containing Sodium Laureth/Lauryl Sulfate or other harsh surfactants, which have some still-developing links to causing cancer.
All castile soap works great as a shaving cream, laundry detergent, and of course body soap and bath oil. I use castile soap for each of these frequently with great results. The only thing that I sometimes have trouble replacing is a dedicated shampoo. Castile soap doesn't always get all the oil out of dirty hair. This isn't specific to Dr. Woods in any way, it's the same with all castile soap. I'm a guy so I like squeaky-clean skin and hair, but for many women I know this would be a benefit as it doesn't strip out all your natural oils as readily as commercial drugstore soaps.
A great product and a great way to make your life just a bit better. Please do yourself a favor and go with castile soap today, especially if you're starting your own family.
