(More customer reviews)I have hair that can get as long as my waist depending on the time of year. Because I donate it to charity, I don't like to blow dry it. I'm lucky that I work from home so that I don't have requirements on how it looks :) Even so, though, I'm not fond of frizzy hair. Normally when you don't blow-dry hair, frizziness is something that can happen. I'm always looking for a shampoo and conditioner solution that can keep the frizziness to a minimum.
The Herbal Essences "None of your Frizzness" line is specifically made as a smoothing solution. The first thing I noticed about the shampoo is that it is THICK. In fact when I first poured the shampoo - several times, not just the first time - I thought I had mistakenly grabbed the conditioner instead of the shampoo. This meant it didn't do its primary job of "being a shampoo" very well. It didn't get down through the hair layers well, or lift up the hair to let dirt and oil out.
I do like the color - a pearly orange-peach. What's interesting is that they call this "mandarin balm and pearls". If you look at the ingredient list they do actually have ground up pearls and mandarin orange in here! Orange I can understand - citrus helps to cut grease in hair care and skin products. Pearls, though? I'm not quite sure what ground up pearls does for hair.
Since I always use a conditioner after a shampoo, I'm not sure that I really need a shampoo that is heavy and holds the hair down. Since this is sold as a set, I would rather have the shampoo get the hair really clean - and then the conditioner does the "settling down of the frizzies" part.
A larger issue, though, is that after using the Herbal Essences shampoo my face felt "tingly" / hot for the rest of the day, as if my skin was allergic to something. I realize that not everyone is allergic to the same things - obviously some people have allergies to peanuts, while other people eat them daily. However, for me this was of course the final issue. I have to review products as they affect me, not as I would guess that they might affect other people.
Still, I would guess for all people that they want a shampoo that shampoos well - and that they then want a conditioner that conditions well. To me the main job of handling frizzies is on the conditioning side. I think there should be more cleaning done on this shampoo side, so I didn't find this to be a great shampoo, even for this purpose.
